Preempting the inevitable death of traditional forms of media

Here’s a short video clip I whipped together this week for my office. It’s the first installation of a continuing series on leadership that I’m launching this year. It’s also a first career milestone for me.

I’m trying my hand at conceptualizing and producing videos as new media leans toward more dynamic products versus static content. Since public relations evolves at the same pace of technology, staying current on emerging communication practices is imperative for professional sustainability.

Understanding audience temperaments also adds to the equation. To cater to millennials and younger generations who overwhelmingly prefer moving images, I’m making it a priority this year to seek out training and on the job opportunities to learn film making, and hopefully master the art form.

It’s a simple video for a simple idea, but this is the first step to sharpening my rudimentary skills behind the camera. Let me know what you think!

The footage was filmed using a HERO4 GoPro HD camera and edited using Apple’s iMovie software.
